The Green Life Market is committed to providing the highest quality of natural, organic, and local products. We strive to offer knowledgeable and professional customer service on products, as well as living a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Our dedicated staff is always looking for new and improved ways to educate ourselves and our customers on topics from the food we put on our shelves to the latest and greatest books on those nasty little genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
We welcome all customers from the experienced organic buyer, to the curious browser. If there is something you would like to see in our store, we would love to hear about. Send us an email at info@thegreenlifemarket.com, or stop in and visit us. We will certainly do what we can.
Kristine Szurna Bersche, owner of The Green Life Market, and her husband Joel, just returned to the Grand Rapids area from Chicago to settle amongst family and friends. Kristine moved to Chicago in 1999 to pursue her career as an environmental consultant.
In the consulting business, Kristine observed poor environmental practices on a regular basis from excessive energy use to lack of recycling programs. She observed hazardous waste being shipped off-site and used as a product in animal feed, as well as personal care products in which petroleum was an ingredient. As such, Kristine has spent a significant amount of time researching and studying the chemicals and ingredients that can be found in the products we consume, as well as use in our homes and offices. Over time, she has grown passionate about organic, natural, and locally harvested products which provide a healthier alternative to the products we typically find today in chain grocery stores.
Fueled by her passion for the environment and the need for a HEALTHY grocer in the area, Kristine put her consulting background aside and created a place for people to find goods that are not only great for them, but great for the environment, too.
***Kristine holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University where she studied Environmental Science. *** |
